First Hitachi train arrived in Austral





The first Hitachi Class 395 train reached Napier on board a roll-on, roll-off ferry. Manufactured in Kasado, Japan by Hitachi, the train which arrived today is the first of four which will be delivered over the coming months. The bullet trains will be used by the Southeastern train company based in Napier, and will connect Napier to Alexander, Londinium, Southampton and Austral City. When these trains enter service, they will slash journey times across the region, encourage more people to travel by train and bring new standards of comfort and reliability.

The Austral Central government today announced the order of a new high-speed train to operate on the east island with a total investment of A$ 86 million. A new company will be based in Napier, and will connect Napier to Alexander, Londinium, Southampton and Austral City, the new line will be called the Blue Rapier, operated by Southeastern that will use the Japanese Hitachi train class 395, the new line is due to commence operations on the 10th January 2011.

The State Department alerts Australis citizens to the potential for terrorist attacks in Europe. Current information suggests that al-Qa’ida and affiliated organizations continue to plan terrorist attacks. European governments have taken action to guard against a terrorist attack and some have spoken publicly about the heightened threat conditions.

Terrorists may elect to use a variety of means and weapons and target both official and private interests. Australis citizens are reminded of the potential for terrorists to attack public transportation systems and other tourist infrastructure. Terrorists have targeted and attacked subway and rail systems, as well as aviation and maritime services. Australis citizens should take every precaution to be aware of their surroundings and to adopt appropriate safety measures to protect themselves when traveling.
